Penis Size – Simple Measurements Don’t Tell the Whole Story

Penis Size

Men have been obsessed with penis size and sexual performance since the dawn of man. Even the earliest historical records reflect a keen interest in how men measure up and how much they can satisfy their sexual partners. While the obsession with size and performance has endured, so have myths and misconceptions. Perhaps one of the most enduring misconceptions when it comes to penis size is that length or girth is standard and every man should strive to reach a certain goal. The truth, however, is very different.

The Establishment of an Impossible Ideal

For many years, men have held themselves to what was a near impossible standard. In the 1950s, the Kinsey Report took the world by storm and established a number of norms for human sexuality. Ideas about how often men thought about sex, masturbated and their endurance was set by this initial report and best-selling book. But many of these initial ‘facts’ were anything but. The original Kinsey studies relied on self-reporting from men about everything from sexual endurance, masturbation frequency and, most importantly, penis size. Initially, reports from men across the country established the average size at 7 inches when erect. This erroneous reporting was addressed in later versions of the Kinsey Report by implementing controlled measurements but, by then, the damage had been done. Since this original report, many studies have been published which place the true average length anywhere from 4.5 to 6 inches when erect, but still many men believe 7 inches to be the average.

Size Matters But Only in Proportion

Regardless of the truth about average sizes, it turns out that size isn’t a one-fits-all proposition. In 2013 a landmark study was released that confirmed women do care about size (something most men already knew to be true) but that it only mattered in relation to the rest of a man’s build. A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that women found a man’s size attractive not because it measured up to some unrealistic ideal, but because his penis is in proportion to the rest of his build. Simply put, a larger penis does look good on a larger man, but a small man with an abnormally large penis can look off putting and wholly unattractive.

So what does this mean for men? Well, for some, it can change the results they want from penis extenders and for others, it means they no longer worry about using penis extenders and instead focus on their technique, stamina and sex drive. But for every man, no matter his length or girth, it means completely re-evaluating the ways they see themselves and their penis size. Many man have used penis extenders in an effort to gain the inches they thought they needed when, in fact, they may have been right on target for their own body size.

Of course, this doesn’t mean the end of men using penis extenders to improve their size. Some men still find they need to add some length in order to achieve a size that is proportionate, while others use them to boost their own self-confidence. This study doesn’t mean that men should necessarily abandon plans to improve length or girth, but that they should ensure their goals are in line with the body shape if they want the results to satisfy their partners and ultimately successfully improve their own self-esteem. Finding and striking that balance is important in any sort of body modification, whether it’s building muscle, trimming down or toning up – proportion and balance is what women find truly appealing, so strike the balance and find your perfect look.
