Penis Enlargement – Past, Present and Future

Past, Present and Future

People have been obsessed with the way their body looks since the beginning of time. Even in the most ancient civilizations, researchers have found evidence of makeup, tattooing and even body modification. Long before magazines, television and movies were setting unrealistic standards of beauty, people simply competed with each other or with those in power, emulating their style and simply trying to look as good as they could.

Penis Enlargement and History

Many people are surprised to learn that, like the use of make-up or tattooing, penis enlargement also shares thing long and illustrious history. Discussion of penis size and method in which to change its shape date back to ancient Egypt, the Middle East and Asia.  The Kama Sutra, the oldest known sex manual, even devotes space to discussing size and which positions are best suited to use for men who are less endowed.

Before there were commercial penis enlargers, men used a variety of methods in order to increase their penis size. In some areas they simply tied small stones to pieces of twine and then tied those to the penis, letting the stones tug the penis down. Men would begin with small pebbles and slowly work their way up, essentially using the same method employed by traction devices today, though not with the same amount of comfort or guidance so success was probably more hit and miss.

In the Middle East a practice known as Jelqing was developed. Jelqing is a series of stretches and exercises which helps to increase the pliability of the penile tissues and then stretches them. This method is still actually used today and practitioners of Jelqing swear by the results. The problem with this system now is that it requires a fair amount of hands-on time in term of completing the stretches and exercises and the intensity of the workout does run the risk of injury.

The first commercial penis enlargers weren’t introduced until about 1900 when an inventor named Otto Ledever came along and introduced the world to the first commercially available vacuum penis pump. Like vacuum pumps of today, Ledever’s invention would draw extra blood into the penis, engorging it beyond its normal dimensions in terms of width. The results were almost instant but, sadly, temporary.

As time went on traction style penis enlargers emerged on the scene but their initial poor construction earned them a reputation for being a scam and for many years the male enhancement industry suffered and was seen as little more than a waste of money. But then developments starting a few decades ago began to change everything. Researchers developed a better understanding of how to make traction devices more effective and, over time, these devices began to improve in terms of quality and comfort.

Today, there are clinical studies which have proven the efficacy of traction style penis enlargers and there are dozens of male enhancement companies dedicated to manufacturing high quality devices for men. There are also more advocacy groups and researchers keeping an eye not only on the current state of male enhancement products, but who are also planning for the future.

At home products and clinical procedures are now growing by the day and men today have more options than ever before when it comes to ways to improve their libido, boost their stamina and, of course, change the way their penis looks. Pumps and traction devices are now more advanced and can be used for a longer amount of time with greater comfort. The art of phalloplasty, cosmetic surgery for the penis, is also on the rise with a number of clinics now offering the highly specialized services. In short, the future of male enhancement and penis enlargement is bright and soon there won’t be any excuse for men who won’t get the help they need in order to achieve the body they always wanted.
