Facts About Your Penis

Cool Facts about Your Penis

The first (unspoken) fact about the penis is that men worry about its size and shape almost constantly.  Women are thought to worry about a number of things at any given time, including their weight, age, attractiveness to the opposite sex; the list goes on.  Men are considered to be the far less stressed species with most people often believing that a man has no worries at all.  This is untrue.  Men use almost all of their allotted “worry time” to contemplate whether or not their penis is adequate.

As with all worry, understanding the penis better is a great way to put lay some of the stress about penis size and shape to rest, or shed light on some of the acceptable and practical solutions that can be found for some common penile problems.

Fact #1 – Two Types of Penis

The first type of penis appears to be quite large in its flaccid state, but does not grow a great deal when erect.  This has become known as a “shower” type of penis; it appears to show the majority of its glory without any sexual arousal.

The second type of penis, nicknamed a “grower,” may be seem quite small in its flaccid state but then grow up to two times more in length than the “shower” penis does.

In short there is no real correlation between the length of the penis in its flaccid state to that of the length of the erection formed.  Some studies have shown that around 79% of the male population to have “growers” with the other 21% owning “showers”.  However the average penis size remains the same at 5.1 to 5.9 inches when erect.  So there is no need to feel ashamed in the gym changing rooms anymore as flaccid length is by no means everything.
Quit Smoking

Fact #2 – Smoking can Shrink your Penis

The negative health benefits have been publicly discussed and realised over the years.  Smoking can cause a build-up of harmful plaque within the arteries, causing substantial problems with the heart and blood circulatory system. The blood circulation to the penis is the difference between a good, great or non-existent erection.

The erection chambers of the penis must fill with a sufficient amount of blood for an erection to occur and be maintained.  Therefore, plaque build-up in the arteries, which are especially small in the penis and do not take a lot to clog them, will undoubtedly slow blood flow to the penis.  Research has shown that prolonged smoking can actually lessen the length of an erect penis by up to one centimetre.  This may not sound like a lot, but for those who are not blessed to have a great deal of length on their side in the first place, a centimetre can make all the difference in the world.

Fact #3 – The Penis Looks Like a Boomerang

Using an MRI machine, men are able to see that the base of the penis, inside the body is at an angle to the rest of the penis which can be seen outside the body, making a boomerang shape.  This is true of all penises.

It is thought that only half of the overall penis length can be seen outside the body, even when it is fully erect.  For this reason, boomerangsome people try to utilise the extra length found within the body in a certain surgical procedure.  The procedure severs the ligaments from the root of the penis which hold it in place and use weights to stretch it into a lengthier position.  Unfortunately, the highly invasive surgery comes with risks of permanent erectile dysfunction due to damaged nerve endings around the groin as well as the fact that the erection is no longer held in place properly.

Fact #4 – Penile Fracture is Real

For many years, penile fracture was assumed to be a myth.  Today, where personal problems are spoken about much more openly with the use of the Internet so that people may learn from other’s misfortunes, penile fracture can be learned about.

Firstly, as one might expect, fracturing the penis is extremely painful.  The majority of men who suffer this experience tend to be younger in years.  This is thought to be because of the rigidity of their erection as opposed to older men who have slightly less rigid erections.  Out of these men, the most common cause of the fracture is suffering a blunt trauma to the erect penis by way of vigorous sex.

Men who experience penile fracture will often tell of a loud snapping sound and excruciating pain, followed by instant loss of erection.  The penis will bruise instantly and turn blue or black.  Men should seek medical attention straight away, whereby a surgical procedure will be performed to correct the penis.  Failure to seek medical advice comes with a risk of experiencing erectile dysfunction or permanent penile curvature.
